Anthony Vazquez and Brett Chase will collaborate with residents in the south and west side of Chicago as they document their daily lives, exploring how environmental pollution and changing climate impacts them, their families, and their community.

Anthony Vazquez is a photojournalist for the Chicago Sun-Times where he concentrates on the city's south and west sides. Anthony became interested in journalism while enlisted in the Marine Corps and after his service, pursued journalism at the University of Iowa where he served as photo editor of The Daily Iowan. Post-graduation, he moved to Mexico to document rural life and worked as a stringer for The Associated Press and AP Images for nearly 3 years. He joined Report for America shortly after moving back to the US in 2020 which led him to his position at the Chicago Sun-Times.

Brett Chase reports on environmental protection, pollution, and public health under a grant from The Chicago Community Trust. He is a former investigative reporter for the Better Government Association, and, before that, worked at Bloomberg News, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and Crain’s Chicago Business. He has a journalism degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and has taught journalism at Loyola University in Chicago.
