Stacy Kranitz is a documentary photographer who lives in the Appalachian Mountains of eastern Tennessee.

She received an MFA from the University of California, Irvine, and a BA from New York University. She is a 2020 Guggenheim Fellow. Since 2009, Kranitz has chronicled the socio-economic and environmental challenges facing Appalachia.

Her photographs are held in permanent collections at the Harvard Art Museum and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Her first monograph, As it Was Give(n) to Me, was published in 2022 and was shortlisted for the Paris Photo - Aperture First Photobook Award.

Kranitz regularly works as an editorial photographer for clients including Time, National Geographic, the New York Times, The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, the Atlantic and Mother Jones.
